Getting from the bustling souks of Marrakech to the peaceful alpine trails of Imlil is simple once you know your options. Located just 65 kilometers south of Marrakech, the journey takes between 75 and 90 minutes.
Option 1: Private Transfer (Recommended for Comfort & Groups)
If you have heavy rucksacks, are traveling as a couple or family, or want guaranteed door-to-door service without negotiating, booking a pre-arranged private vehicle is by far the best option. A modern air-conditioned vehicle meets you directly at your Marrakech riad or airport gate and brings you straight to your Imlil hotel or the guide office.
- Cost: 45 - 55 EUR per vehicle (1 to 4 persons) each way.
- Duration: 1 hour 20 minutes.
- Perks: Air conditioning, luggage space, flexibility to stop at the Asni Saturday souk or photo viewpoints.
Option 2: Shared Grand Taxi from Bab Er-Rob
Budget independent travelers can take a shared Mercedes Grand Taxi. Head to the Grand Taxi rank outside Bab Er-Rob gate on the southern edge of Marrakech medina.
Most shared taxis run from Marrakech to Asni (cost approx. 20 - 25 MAD per seat). In Asni, you change into another shared taxi or minibus going up the winding gorge to Imlil (approx. 10 - 15 MAD per seat). Direct taxis from Marrakech straight to Imlil occasionally operate, or you can buy out all 6 seats in a shared taxi for approximately 350 - 450 MAD.
